On 26th January 1950 the constitution of India came into force and India got the prestige of becoming of sovereign state. The people of India who breathed the free air under the shelter of liberty remembered the freedom fighters who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow. They remembered the great national heroes whose spirit of patriotism brought freedom for the people of India who were reeling under the pain of slavery.
In India, Republic Day is celebrated with feeling of patriotism and national fervor. In New Delhi great celebration is performed every year. Eminent leaders of the nation, artists of great repute, top luminaries and citizens gather to celebrate the Republic Day. President of India addresses the nation and instills the feeling of patriotism in the citizens. On 26th January the prime minister of India delivers the inspiring speech. National flag is unfurled and people offer their salutations and sing National Anthem. Every year parade is held in the capital. The different regiments of the army, Navy and the Air force perform the march past. Spectacular displays attract the eyes of the people. In schools and colleges flag of India is unfurled and various cultural programs are arranged to please the people. A scene of unity can be seen even in diversity at various places.
