Parashuram was the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On the third day of the bright fortnight of Vaishakh month, the appearance day of Bhagwan Parshuram is celebrated. This festival is also called the Akshaya Trutiya.. The fruits of good deeds become permanent on this day.
Bhagwan Parshuram was the son of Rishi Jamdagni and considered as the sixth Avtar of Lord Vishnu. He is considered as the symbol of courage and devotion as well. His mother name was Renuka. His father Jamdagni was the sage of hot temper and the same quality was persisting in Parshuram also.
There is a story in Puran that there was a king whose name was Sahastrarjun. He was a very cruel king and harassed Brahmins many a time. So Bhagwan Parashuram had taken a vow to destroy all Kshatriya as he wanted to save this earth from the cruelty of Kshatriya. A time came when no Kshatrya dared to came on the throne. So, there was no king who could rule the earth. Kashyap Muni called the Kashtriya back and asked them to rule the earth once again. Kashyap Muni suggested Parshuram to live in secluded place. So Parashuram went to mountain Mahendra.
